Coaching Skills – How to Become an Effective Coach
To be effective, this form of training needs to be planned and time allowed for the coach to develop staff. It involves consciously seeking out opportunities for developing people, training the person to do the job and giving him or her appropriate feedback on how well they have performed. This one-day programme introduces people to coaching and explores the skills and attributes required to be successful in developing others. It gives participants a clear guide to a coaching approach that they can use with individuals and teams bringing immediate benefits to the workplace.
Who Should Attend • All those people that have responsibility to coach people to achieve organisational results. • Team leaders, supervisors, and managers at all levels that are implementing organisational change.
What the programme will cover While the day can be developed to suit organisational requirements, key topics could include: • Instruct, train, coach or mentor – what’s the difference? • What is coaching and where should it be used? • An evaluation of our individual styles. • A six stage process for running effective coaching sessions • Practical exercises to help develop individual coaching skills to achieve organisational and personal improvement. • How to develop confidence as a coach
Training Methodology This workshop will be highly participative and your seminar leader will present, guide and facilitate the learning, using a range of methods including discussions, case studies and exercises. Where appropriate, these will include real issues brought to the workshop by delegates. The workshop is backed-up with a full delegate workbook, visual aids, and case material where appropriate.
Workshop Duration Usually one day as a guide although some organisations have benefited from a more comprehensive two-day programme developing staff motivation and other areas of staff development – sometimes split over a few weeks as issues that arise on the first day may take a while to resolve internally. Be prepared to be flexible – we are!
Maximum Group Size Ideally, no more than 12 people per workshop but since this event is designed as an in house programme with your key people, it can be adjusted to accommodate your needs.
